Coal Drop Yards (4) - 28 July 2019

A wonderful relic (perhaps a reproduction?) of the former use of Coal Drop Yards at Kings Cross which is now a retail and leisure development. TZ70_P1000408

Gasholder Park (1) - 28 July 2019

The preserved gasholders in the now mostly residential Gasholder Park, Kings Cross are pieces of engineering to be admired. TZ70_P1000405CE

Chapel Down Gin Works - 28 July 2019

Chapel Down Gin Works, Goods Way, Kings Cross, London, N1C. The neon sign over the entrance declares 'Bar, Distillery, Restaurant'. The website is quite 'hip'. But I remember the humble beginnings of the building which was a sales office for the nearby Gasholder Park residences. TZ70_P1000390CE

Coal Drops Yard (1) - 27 July 2019

The retail development of the buildings in Coal Drop Yards in London's new N1C postcode is an architectural masterpiece. A sympathetic retention of the major structures with additions and alterations to enhance the new roles of the buildings clearly deserves an award. TZ70_P1000361E

The retail development of the buildings in Coal Drop Yards in London's new N1C postcode is an architectural masterpiece. A sympathetic retention of the major structures with additions and alterations to enhance the new roles of the buildings clearly deserves an award. Another masterpiece of innovation, although there are similar schemes elsewhere, is the residential development, Gasholder Park which can be seen in the background. To walk here is a reaffirmation of faith in planning after years of exposure to the merciless destruction of the skyline in The City. TZ70_P1000362

The Coal Office (1) - 27 July 2019

30 Jul 2019 60
The regeneration of the area around Kings Cross, now known by its postcode of N1C, is a model of architectural and planning propriety. The Coal Office, which first appeared in my photostream on 2015, was destined to be a UK headquarters for Jamie Oliver. Some things do not come to pass. It houses instead the Tom Dixon shop and the Coal Office restaurant. TZ70_P1000365

The St Pancras Waterpoint (1) - 27 July 2019

30 Jul 2019 1 76
The St Pancras Waterpoint (c1872), originally located at the eponymous station some 700m further south, was relocated to its present day Camley Street site in 2001 as a consequence of the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. The Victorian architecture is superb but was criticised at the time of its construction for adopting the Gothic style of its home station for a functional structure. TZ70_P1000369R
