All White at Exeter - 30 May 2021

31 May 2021 1 42
Exeter without Flybe and damaged, like everywhere, by the pandemic is a shadow of its former self. Noted stored on Sunday 30 May 2021 were two aircraft in white and, apparently devoid of markings although I did not have a full view of the ATR. I believe these are B737-400 G-JMCY and ATR72-600 EI-GPO. TZ70_2_P1000097CE

Former Austrian Airlines Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 OE-LGF at Exeter. It seemed ironic that the one Dash 8 left in the Flybe area by mid-July 2020 was this former Austrian Airlines example. TZ70_P1020451CE

Flybe Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 G-ECOM rolling out on runway 08 at Exeter on a misty February morning. For some unknown reason, taxiway C was closed and the aircraft rolled to the end of the runway to turn round before a long backtrack to B. TZ30_P1050422CE

2-RBTS at Exeter - 9 August 2018

In spite of the unavoidable inclusion of numerous cones and the nose of visiting Bombardier Challenger 850 D-AJOY, I am pleased with this picture of Cessna 525B CitationJet CJ3 2-RBTS at Exeter. TZ30_P1050199C

Little Southernhay Lane, Exeter - 2 February 2018

To complement my earlier night shot of the remains of the city walls, this daytime view has a nice dapple from the winter sunshine through the trees along Little Southernhay Lane, Exeter. TZ30_P1040873R

Stagecoach 24140 in Exeter - 2 February 2018

The striking Urban Outfitters mural by Vhils (Alexandro Farto) provides the backdrop to Stagecoach Alexander Enviro 300 bodied MAN 18.240LF 24140/WA59FWV operating on route R on High Street, Exeter. 200_3_P1040245E

Urban Outfitters Mural - 2 February 2018

05 Feb 2018 334
The mural above Urban Outfitters in High Street, Exeter was created in time for the store's opening in 2011 by Portuguese artist Vhils (Alexandro Farto). It replaced the Tudor House mural dating from 1991 when the store was Topshop. The subject is apparently intentionally anonymous and the chiselling away of the render to form parts of the image, intentional. 200_3_P1040244E

Exeter Roofline - 2 February 2018

05 Feb 2018 125
The building central to this picture is Mol's Coffee House in Cathedral Close, Exeter which has a history traced to the 16th century. However, my attention was on the remarkable and, it must be said, somewhat incongruous bell tower of St Martin's. The church, managed today by the Churches Conservation Trust, was built in the 15th century and the tower, reportedly, in 1675 although it really does look 'stuck on'. 200_3_P1040243R

South Gate, Exeter - 2 February 2018

04 Feb 2018 134
A recent interest in the Planagenets and the Wars of the Roses made all the more interesting this plaque in Exeter on the present day South Street at the junction of Little Southernhay Lane. The South Gate itself was demolished as long ago as 1819. 200_3_P1040242R

Little Southernhay Lane, Exeter - 1 February 2018

This night time view of Little Southernhay Lane in Exeter shows part of the remains of the city walls near the former site of the South Gate. The building in the background is the White Ensign Club (since 1977) and was formerly Holy Trinity Church (built 1820, deconsecrated c1969). TZ30_P1040864E
