On this occasion, only a long shot of Costa Mediterranea in fading light was possible. She is seen here near Calshot under way from Southampton to Zeebrugge. I would not normally post a shot with gulls in front of the ship but I think they add a little mood to this edited picture. 200_3_P1050603CE1

This picture is part of a new series depicting Port Everglades, the busy port of Fort Lauderdale. As is usual with ports these days, access is not easy and viewpoints are limited. My pictures, then, are by no means all portraits, as I would prefer, but a record of the port at work. Eurodam and Costa Deliziosa were two of the four ships which stayed the day. The expansion of Havant's Solent Retail Park is all but complete with Next already open and shopfitting under way at the adjacent Marks & Spencer. This Sunday morning shot happily includes a Fiat 500. 200_2_P1100510C

The expansion of Havant's Solent Retail Park is all but complete and its newest resident, Next, forms the backdrop to an image of some elements of the 2010s. Managed car parks are everywhere since their effective enforcement was recognised as a nice little income stream for someone. The major coffee chains are near ubiquitous and still multiplying their number of outlets. Havant's Next incorporates a Costa. The 2007+ Fiat 500 has taken to our streets in considerable numbers and my observations suggest that the type is especially prolific in Hampshire. 200_2_P1100513C
