Marwell Wildlife and First Southampton have launched the M1 service to Marwell Zoo. The first and last journey of the day will start and end in Southampton, with services throughout the day running between Eastleigh Railway Station and the zoo. The bus runs direct to Marwell from Friday 25 March to Sunday 4 September on school holidays, weekends and bank holidays. This is a bit of a wild card entry for my Zany Zebras series [qv] as the background pattern for the bus stop sticker is taken from the 'flagship' zebra, Gilbert. Unfortunately, at the time of posting, Gilbert was in the news for the wrong reasons as he had been stolen just before a promotional trip which would have taken him to Waterloo station. M1 Collage

Palm Springs Buzz is a free weekend trolley service in Palm Springs which operates Thu - Sun, 11am - 1am linking Via Escuela and Smoketree. This bus stop flag, which looks good against a typical blue sky, is in Via Escuela. 200_2_P1080158

The loop road off Oystermouth Road in Swansea which serves the Civic Center has two bus stops in each direction. The first, nearest to the ramp access, was featured in my recent 'ftr Farewell' series. The route sees buses other than the StreetCars although a period of observation of about 30 or 40 minutes did not suggest much use of this stop. The Welsh language side of the flag reads (from top) Civic Centre, towards City Centre (level access) and (unsurprisingly) bus stop. 200_2_P1060450

As the summer drew to a close in Swansea, the ftrmetro bus outline, seen here on a Civic Centre stop, would become history. First Cymru had announced the withdrawal of the Wright StreetCar bodied Volvo B7LAs from the route after six years of service. Their introduction or, more particularly, the road changes that accompanied it, had proved controversial.
