West Side Story (Waterloo) - 31 August 2020

The relatively short life of the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo is, I think, a worthy discussion point for many of us but, having come and gone, the space was restored to the then South West Trains and now South Western Railway. The lack of activity in this picture is accounted for by a Bank Holiday Monday and the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. 200_4_P1000251E

Class 442 at Waterloo - 31 May 1988

One of the best preserved of my photographs from the 1980s depicts one of the great survivors of emus in the south. Class 442 has been through several incarnations and returned to what is now South Western Railway in 2019. 2404 was seen in Network SouthEast livery at Waterloo more than 30 years earlier and would have been, I imagine, on a Bournemouth service. 880917A_310588

Life On Mars - 15 September 2019

Nearing the end of a long day out in London, the message on this electronic billboard at Waterloo was quite poignant. There was a time when Life On Mars was the soundtrack to my life. It was, at the time, linked to a very special person. I still miss David. TZ70_P1010125E

London Unusually - View From Waterloo - 15 Septemb…

London is probably one of the most photographed cities in the world and it takes a bit of effort to be unpredictable and see it differently. In my occasional series 'London Unusually' I try to do that. In an idle moment waiting for a bus at stop A at Waterloo, I saw this as a composition not to be missed. St John's Church is flanked by the more distant South Bank Tower (left) and One Blackfriars. TZ70_P1010127C

This picture of Class 416/2 (2-EPB) 5784 and Class 414/2 (2-HAP) 6002 emus at Waterloo offers a glimpse into a past of slam-door stock and sober liveries. 8310817
