One of the best preserved of my photographs from the 1980s depicts one of the great survivors of emus in the south. Class 442 has been through several incarnations and returned to what is now South Western Railway in 2019. 2404 was seen in Network SouthEast livery at Waterloo more than 30 years earlier and would have been, I imagine, on a Bournemouth service. 880917A_310588

Nearing the end of a long day out in London, the message on this electronic billboard at Waterloo was quite poignant. There was a time when Life On Mars was the soundtrack to my life. It was, at the time, linked to a very special person. I still miss David. TZ70_P1010125E

In my occasional series 'London Unusually' I try to do that. In an idle moment waiting for a bus at stop A at Waterloo, I saw this as a composition not to be missed.
