July 2015 saw an end to a long period of inconvenience for customers of Bedhampton Post Office. The G R post box there was damaged in late 2014 and it was initially stated that it would have to be repaired rather than replaced. Months passed with no progress and, eventually, the box was, in fact, replaced with an E II R example which has been re-sited and now has some attractive pots next to it as some small compensation for the many months the site looked like this this . 200_2_P1060150

Second Post - 21 December 2014

It is more than a month since my previous picture of the damaged post box at Bedhampton Post Office. With no sign of replacement or repair, the forlorn structure has been wrapped for most of the time since 16 November in a mail bag and stripy tape. I would like to have seen far speedier remedial action. 200_2_P1020103

Red Tape (detail) - 16 November 2014

The post box at Bedhampton Post Office was extravagantly wrapped in duct tape (see previous picture). Closer examination revealed damage to the lower left door but it was not immediately obvious why they could not simply use one of those slot-blockers seen during industrial action. This GR box would be 80-100 years old and is, perhaps, now brittle. There was no notice of explanation or indicating a plan for repair or replacement. 200_2_P1010924
