Carn Gloose (or Gluze), near Cape Ciornwall, West Penwith, Cornwall, South West Peninsula coast Path. The light conditions and cloud effects were a little bit odd that day. This should be mapped as was quite clearly on GPS. Maybe teething trouble with the new mapping service?

Viewed from Carn Gloose. For Pam! A strange day where the light was generally good but there was a pervading misty atmosphere, hence no horizon to speak of. Taken 2018 and posted first 2018.

Another view of this far southwest corner of Cornwall, granite in the foreground, Land's End in the far distance. In the middle distance at the left, The Cot Valley running into the sea, once very heavily industrialised (tin mines). Low tide.

Another shot of this far southwest coastline and another one for Pam! This low tide shot reveals an interesting granitic bouldery shoreline walk that I don't know. I will have to investigate!!

Ballowall Scillonian burial chamber, or Ballowall Barrow for short, with Land's End in the distance and that mysterious white cloud again (well, not mysterious to me but it was mysterious according to the Editor of the Times and to a couple of ipernity members who sent me emails in Cornwall the next day asking if I'd seen it. Well ... yes ... ).

A pleasant scramble up to this point and good views to Cape Cornwall in the north and to Land's End in the south.

I simply liked the stone and vegetation contrast and the near timelessness of the site.

This cloud formation over Land's End looks normal enough from Carn Gloose but was much remarked upon in the national press. I saw the photos on the front pages of several papers, all taken from Sennen or Land's End itself and I'm still not sure why it was considered remarkable!
