I set out on the bus from Madrid in thick fog. I started my walk thinking I had a one in ten chance of emerging through the mirk! So was overjoyed when I did!

Very shallow for May.There had been no rain that winter and spring. This little stream dried up a week later. Normally this happens in late June or early July. Sierra de Cabrera, Valdemanco.

Coming to the end of its season. Granite. lavender and cistus, Sierra de La Cabrera.

I still don't know what this tower was for but as it stands directly over a (recently disused) railway, tunnelled under the mountains, I suspect it was a smoke vent, maybe.
