For Pam. The beach at Portreath at low tide viewed from Treaga Hill. I think I may have posted this before, and fairly recently at that! Apologies if so.

On Treaga (or Western) Hill, South West Peninsula Coast Past near Portreath, Cornwall. Just a shame that the wind had blown their magnificent manes over the other side from the camera!

Shetland ponies on Treaga Hill, Ralph's Cupboard, Portreath. There has been debate here and on Pano as to whether these are actually Shetland ponies with many members saying they are far too big. But all the literature, online info, signposts and notice boards say that they are and for want of any better evidence, that is what I will continue to call them. Maybe the rich Cornish grassland has fattened them up a treat!

A Huer's lookout. The Huer had to look out for the coming of the pilchard shoal; when seen, the town would galvanise into frenetic but well-practiced action! The nightmare scenario was if it was missed because it passed by in the night! In which case somewhere else in Wales or Ireland benefited.

More erosion at Treaga Hill, Ralph's Cupboard, Portreath. I didn't stay here too long (although I was standing on solid granite, I couldn't be too sure what, if anything, lay beneath it!)

Treaga Hill, Portreath, Cornwall. Only now noticed that this could equally have been my HFF shot! So I thought; OK why not! Two HFF best wishes to my ipernity friends this week!

This path was still there in 2014, and 15. When I revisited in 2017, however, it had gone. such is the inexorable tide of erosion here.

South West Peninsula Coast Path. August 2014 My question for the group 'Ask an Expert' is this. Are these actually Shetland ponies? It sparked a lively debate on Panoramio but was never truly resolved. The notice boards all say Shetland Ponies, but quite a few viewers said they were too big and must be another breed..
