I believe these are Big Bend Yucca, Yucca rostrata, photographed at Ocotillo Grove in Big Bend National Park. We spent the night at Ocotillo Grove before going on the next morning to kayak on the Rio Grande at Santa Elena Canyon.

This was the sunset the night we camped at Ocotillo Grove on the southwest corner of Big Bend National Park. The sunset was a bit disappointing and this was the best photo I was able to get. We were camped at this location because we intended to go kayaking on the Rio Grande the next morning, though camping describes our situation only very broadly. We sleep in the back of our van when traveling using our backpacking sleeping bags and mats.

Camped at Octotillo Grove on the southwest side of Big Bend National Park we wandered the area at sunset before getting to bed for the night. These Yucca plants, I believe they are the Spanish Dagger Yucca, were near our camp.

This was the view from our campsite the third night of our stay in Big Bend National Park. We found a place to park the car at Ocotillo Grove not far from the Rio Grande and Santa Elena Canyon where we would go kayaking the next day.

This was where we stayed the third night of our stay in Big Bend National Park, an area known as Ocotillo Grove, named for the tall branchy cacti that grow there.

As I've noted, we spent the second full day of our time in Big Bend National Park driving down the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, stopping to hike and take photos along the way. This was our destination that day. We were near the Rio Grande, at a spot along a dirt road where we camped for the night. The area is known as Ocotillo Grove and is named for the cacti that are common there, one of which is silhouetted in this photo. We camped here because we planned to go kayaking on the Rio Grande the next day. After getting our sleeping quarters arranged we wandered around the area for a while, waiting for the sunset.
