The Lake Ann trail follows Swift Creek for part of its lengthand crosses the creek a couple of times. This photo was taken at one of the crossings while hiking on a wet and rainy day with brother Tim. The Lake Ann trail is a very popular trail that takes you to an alpine lake at the foot of Mount Shuksan in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. We never saw the lake, however, since the area was completely fogged in while we hiked there.

The trail to Lake Ann winds down through a beautiful and lush valley following Swift Creek. This is the creek at one of the places where it is necessary to cross, here by jumping from one stone to another. The photo looks back up the valley and up the creek.

When hiking to Lake Ann the trail first descends 900 feet from 4800 feet elevation into a beautiful valley through which one hikes until crossing Swift Creek at which point the trail ascends again about 1000 feet (4900 feet elevation) to a small saddle over which lies Lake Ann. Swift Creek tends to be a place where hikers stop for a rest, a snack, perhaps for lunch, before hiking on. The hike is just over four miles, though there is a side trail from Lake Ann to Curtis Glacier that is another mile further.
