Last September, when the larches were changing color, we hiked to Blue Lake (in the North Cascades) and after having lunch at the lake, climbed above the lake. We found there this small pond with its great views of the surrounding peaks, including Cutthroat Peak, across the valley.

Taken late in the afternoon on a hike to Blue Lake last November with my wife, this shows some of the peaks across the valley, which I believe to be Whistler Mountain (the highest peak near the center of the photo) and Cutthroat Peak, the double peak on the far right.

This is another photo from our October hike on the Maple Pass loop. We soon found the hiking difficult as the result of early snow which grew deeper as we gained elevation until finally near the top of the pass we gave it up. This was taken from a lower elevation and looks north across Rainy Pass to Cutthroat Peak.

One more shot of Cutthroat Peak in the last light of the day. Taken on Thanksgiving Day, 2013, and on a trip to eastern Washington. Cutthroat Peak is a prominent peak near Washington Pass in the North Cascades. It is 8050 ft / 2454 m high. This is the last picture I'll be posting from the Cascades and eastern Washington. The next series is from an orchid hunting trip to Olympic National Park the end of July and beginning of August, a very successful trip, too, since we found 11 different orchids.
