Driving on the Skidoo Road to the town site of Skidoo (only sagebrush left now) we stopped at an abandoned mining cabin and photographed this old bed frame, the only thing left inside besides a wine bottle. Skidoo is in the mountains on the west side of Death Valley National Park.

We found this old wine bottle (dated 1917) in an abandoned miner's cabin in Death Valley National Park. I set it up in an opening in the wall before photographing it. Perhaps it is the reason why the cabin and mine were abandoned.

After driving out of Warm Springs Canyon on the south end of Death Valley National Park we drove north through the main tourist areas and then into the mountains on the west side. In the mountains we drove to the site of the mining town of Skidoo which turned out to be nothing but sagebrush and a sign, but visited several old mining structures and cabins on the way. This was a miner's cabin and had the old bedsprings and an old wine bottle still inside (see insets).

Taken at an observation point in the Mount St. Helens area called "Miner's Car." The sign nearby reads, "This car was tossed about like a toy, rolled from across the road where it had been parked. Owners of the car were in their cabin at a nearby mine and were killed when Mount St. Helens erupted." This is five or six miles from the crater.
