The last day of our stay in Big Bend National Park was a day of very mixed weather as the photo illustrates. We first drove north intending to hike near our campsite but found it dull and threatening rain. We then drove back south to the Chisos Basin where we found sunshine and an opportunity to hike and spent the rest of the day there. The photos were taken near the fossil exhibit on our drive north to our campsite.

I suppose that if there's anything that ties the three photos I've posted together it is that they reflect different moods, this the sunlight returning after a storm, the insets some storm clouds that brought ferocious thunder, lightning and rain to the area and a calm evening on the lake.

This is Clear Lake, the lake near which we live. The photo was taken from the park which belongs to our homeowners' association and looks across the lake to the west.

Taken from our back porch, these storm clouds brought a ferocious thunderstorm to our area. When the photo was taken the storm was moving to the northeast.

The photo is from a hike last summer at Dog Mountain in the Columbia River gorge. We spent several days exploring old and new places in the gorge while doing some orchid hunting there.
