In Explore October 1, 2011, #260. The flowers of this tiny orchid are only a few millimeters in size. The name "vinacea" refers to their wine-red color and the species comes from Venezuela and Ecuador. From Colombia and Venezuela and related to the better known genus Lepanthes, Lepanthopsis astrophora (the "Star-bearing" Lepanthopsis) is only three inches tall with flowers that are only an eighth of an inch in size.
