This was taken along the Nisqually Vista trail at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park. The blue flowers are Lupines and the white flowers in the background a mix of Bistort and Valerian. The wildflower meadows at Paradise are incredible.

I took this picture to show the dwarf form of the Alaskan Piperia (Piperia unalascensis fma. olympica) - the light green flower spikes - in its habitat on Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. I am not entirely happy with the picture for obvious reasons. The other wildflowers in the picture are some I've posted recently, the bluish-purple a Lupine, probably the Subalpine Lupine, the red-orange the Harsh Paintbrush, the white cylindrical heads of flowers the Western Bistort with a dwarf Columbia Lily in the upper left of the picture.

In Explore October 10, 2011, #250. After a very busy few weeks I'm back at IMO. Enjoy the group but feel a bit out of my depth. I keep posting though in the hope of learning. This was originally posted on Flickr and at that time I wrote the following comments. Didn't even know whether I should post this. I have very mixed feelings about it, sometimes I like it and sometimes I think it's completely worthless. Thought I'd leave it to you to judge. This was taken on Hurricane Ridge In Olympic National Park on a day when we experienced very mixed weather with a lot of clouds and rain showers moving through very quickly. The flowers are Western Bistort, Polygonum bistortoides, a common alpine perennial in this area, with a few Slender Paintbrush mixed in, along with a few other wildflowers I haven't identified. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2011/09/olympic-nat...

Photographed on the Skyline Divide Trail last autumn, these flowers were everywhere. Photography was a bit difficult since it was early evening and the light was fading, but this turned out fairly well. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2011/12/skyline-div...

Another wildflower from our Cascade Pass hike. Its botanical name is Polygonum bistortoides and it is very common in the mountains in our area and blooms all summer at different elevations. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2012/09/cascade-pas...
