This covered bridge along the Grand River is in the Ravines park. I do not know anything about it, however, and do not even know if it is original. The area was so wet when we were there that the bridge could not be reached.

While in Michigan we spent a day at Millennium Park near Grand Rapids and along the Grand River. One of the highlights of a great day spent hiking and doing photography was turtles. These were photographed along the edge of the river. The larger turtle is a Spiny Soft-shell Turtle and the smaller turtle is a Painted Turtle.

This is a Painted Turtle. He has to be turned upside down to see the reason for his name. The underside of his shell is beautifully marked with red and yellow. He was photographed along the Grand River in Michigan in Millennium Park near Grand Rapids when we were there recently.

These turtles were photographed in Millennium Park near Grand Rapids, Michigan. My wife and I were there recently for a wedding and to visit with family. We saw more turtles than I have ever seen before, including this Common Snapping Turtle and a Painted Turtle, the Snapper the larger of the two.

This was the best I did with astral photography the night I was out in Grand Haven with my brother Tim. This is the Inner Lighthouse on the South Pier in Grand Haven State Park in Michigan, where the Grand River empties into Lake Michigan.

Grand Haven is on the Grand River where it flows into Lake Michigan and the channel is part of a state park. This photo was taken from the north pier and shows the south pier with its lighthouses. We had gone out to the pier to photograph the sunset and do some astral photography. The sunset was great, the astral photography a bust since the moon was too bright.

This photo was taken downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, from the Pearl Street Bridge when we were there for Artprize, an indoor/outdoor art show that is spread over many different venues. The photo was handheld and braced on the bridge railings.

While wandering around downtown Grand Rapids for the art show called Artprize I took some photos from the Pearl Street Bridge as the sunset and evening fell. This was one of them, handheld but braced on the bridge railing.

The Bass River Recreation Area is an area of meadows and woodlands in Western Michigan along the Grand River that has been reclaimed and returned to its natural state after being used for many years for mining gravel. This photo was taken by my wife.

This is the Grand River, one of the larger rivers in western Michigan. This was taken by my wife at the Bass River Recreation Area on one of our visits there. The day started out with a heavy overcast and by the time we arrived back at the car it had started to rain.
