Dendrobium christyanum is from Thailand, Vietnam and China and has huge flowers for the size of the plant. My plant is about 5 cm tall and the flowers are about the same size. It belongs to the group of Dendrobiums known as nigrohirsute Dendrobiums, referring to the black hairs with which the plant is covered and it is sometimes found under the older name, Dendrobium margaritaceum It blooms in the summer and is temperature tolerant. The flowers are fragrant.
Paphiopedilum helenae

This species is one of the smallest of the Paphiopedilums and a fairly recent discovery (1996). Paphiopedilum helenae is from Vietnam and the plant is only 12 cm across with 5 cm flowers (the inset has another photo that gives some scale). I've seen different examples of the species and there is considerable variation in flower color and shape, but I have not seen any that were not charming.

Cirrhopetalum or Bulbophyllum frostii is from Vietnam and belongs to a group of orchids that have some of the strangest flowers in the whole orchid family. Many of them have a nasty scent as well and are fly-pollinated. This species is supposed to be scented but I am unable to detect a scent when my plant is in bloom.

This is not my plant, though I wish it was, but was photographed at our recent show. Ordinarily this Vietnamese species is a pale pink, but this variety or form is much more colorful.

I've decided to post some pictures of my orchids, especially of those that have recently been blooming, and this is one of them, Dendrobium christyanum from China, Thailand and Vietnam. It belongs to a group of Dendrobium that have plants and leaves covered with short black hairs. The plant is a few inches tall and the flowers an inch. The photo below is of the same species but a different plant. There is another photo and a more detailed description at the link below.
