A fenced view down and onto the wooden pier here. This is the home of ‘Cruise Loch Lomond’ and a very busy spot it is in summer. No fences on the lower parts so people have to be very careful near the edges. It has been extensively repaired and renewed over the past few years. Enjoy the weekend.

Another look at Loch Lomond, as we can never get enough of this magnificent stretch of water. Looking south in the direction of Glasgow from about two thirds of the loch length of 39km (24miles) up. From here one can go further north or west. The western road takes us through the village of Arrochar and the mighty Loch Long on to Inveraray and the west coast - this is our direction. The northern route takes one to Crianlarich and Fort William via Glencoe. Enjoy full screen.

A couple take a morning coffee on the banks of Loch Lomond here at Tarbet. The start of a cruise for many but not us as we drive on to the Mull of Kintyre on this day. HBM -enjoy the week.

As Ukraine sees devastation growing by the day we are reminded of the good things in life here. We are just north of the village and our path will take us past the building you see which is the Youth Hostel. The star of the show though is Ben Lomond itself with a nice white summit on this day after a cold wet night. Too cold with a biting wind for us to sit on the bench but a grand view all the same. The views keep on coming as we stroll along this marvellous stretch of the loch. Here we see something special. Loch Lomond National Park Memorial Sculpture: Since 1995, the area around Ben Lomond, including the mountain summit, has been designated as a war memorial, called the Ben Lomond National Memorial Park. The park is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars and was created out of the former Rowardennan Estate with the support of the National Heritage Memorial Fund. The Memorial Park was officially opened on Armistice Day in 1997 by the Rt Hon Donald Dewar, then Secretary of State for Scotland and later becoming the first First Minister of Scotland. At the opening ceremony he unveiled a granite sculpture by Doug Cocker, a Scottish artist who had won a competition organized by the Scottish Sculpture Trust to design a permanent monument for the park.

Another chance to see Loch Lomond, this most bonny Loch of Scotland, taken on our visit around here last year. In the background are the mountains of Ben Vorlich and Ben Vane. Landing spot for the hotel that sits behind me and also wild the road to Loch Arklet & Loch Katrine.

At the side of the Inversnaid Hotel here on the shores of Loch Lomond sits this most impressive waterfall which is in two parts. The piers, also in front of the hotel allows the ferry and pleasure boats to bring in sightseers to picnic at the foot of these falls as well as taking refreshments or rooms in the splendid hotel where we took coffee and creamed scones. From here one can take the steep road into the mountains and along Loch Arklet to Loch Katrine and also the resort of Aberfoyle. See PiPs Enjoy full size.

Taken above Inversnaid on the north east side of Loch Lomond looking west. We see here Ben Ime (1011 m) on the left with Ben Vane (915 m) and Ben Vorlich (985 m). All grand mountain hikes for our Munro baggers. For us however, just a fine distant scene on this most beautiful day. Enjoy full size.

As I looked down the stretch of Loch Lomond from my seat, just behind me, and here is another equally stunning view. This is the north face of Scotland's second most famous mountain: Ben Lomond at 974 metres (3195ft) and is one of the most familiar of the Munros (mountains over 3000 ft high) in Scotland. It is the most southerly and is also one of the most popular hill-walks in Scotland. PiPs Enjoy full size.

A very nice viewpoint above this northern part of the Loch here. Looking south. Out of sight over my left shoulder is Ben Lomond with its snow peak is greeting us too. PiP Enjoy full screen and have a good week.

A look at this famous Loch towards the south from above Inversnaid. It took a while and some effort finding this viewpoint but when we did, we were very pleased indeed as I hope you are. (A stitch of four photos) Enjoy full size. Ps – another short break now.

A view from a walk in the woods south of Invesnaid on the north east of Loch Lomond. We can just see the Loch Lomond holiday park across the water backed up by the grand mountains of Ben Vorlich (943m) and Ben Vane (916m). A view of this most beloved of mountains on the banks of Loch Lomond. This was taken from the small pier at Rawadennan on the North Eastern side of this very large loch. Ben Lomond at 974 metres (3195ft) is one of the most familiar of the Munros (mountains over 3000 ft high) in Scotland. It is the most southerly and is also one of the most popular hill-walks in Scotland. The mountain is a central, prominent feature of the landscape of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. A splendid glimpse of part of this loch from the North Eastern side near Rowadennan. Across can be seen many of the high hills and mountains in the vicinity of Ben Reosc. Of course this lone tree adds to the atmosphere here. Loch Lomond song Enjoy full size.
