HFF~ It’s a misty start to autumn

Strinsdale reservoir is only about 4km from my home but it has many rewards. Besides the old small reservoir itself which is now a fishing lake there are several scenic pathways. This one follows a small stream down to the bottom of the valley.
Have a good weekend.

Yes, another look at our days of winter here in Oldham. As yesterday the temperature soared to 16c+ it is hard to think that this was only taken a couple of weeks ago. Taken on my white walk to my local Strinesdale reservoir.
Have a good weekend.

Another of my local winter walk shots, taken just some days back. I do like the way that this tree has managed to hang on to its autumn plumage. The snow, of course makes the scene.
Enjoy the weekend.

A view from the top of Strinesdale reservoir towards the hamlet of Austerlands. As can be seen, much of our ancient drystone walls still exist up here. This is horse and sheep country.
Enjoy full screen and have a great day

A snowy walk to our closest reservoir brings me onto what we call the high path. Here we have a few seats but as you see, not really serviceable after heavy snow and winds.
Enjoy the day.

A band of cold air brings new snow to our area. This is the most I have seen here this year - so far and so it allows me to go for a local walk with the camera. The trees looked good to me even without the added sunshine. Twenty four hours later and most of this has already gone.
The Pip shows a shot from just around the corner. See adjacent photo for full size.
Enjoy the weekend.

On one of our local walks we pass these two benches regularly but seldom do I see it with such light and colour. This being a much later walk in the day to our usual and also, as can be seen, a very golden autumn day in somewhat rare clear bright sky. In all our times walking here I can’t remember both these seats ever being occupied at once. Perhaps now we will though, as many trees obscuring the view from here have been cleared to allow the view again.
Have a great day.

It may be cold but at least its dry, these sheep may be thinking. We see here a scene taken again, only 30 minutes walk from my front door. The background tree and fences are favourite past photo subjects for me. As I took this, some parts of our country were having vey heavy snowfalls.
Enjoy and keep safe. Herb

As we walk past fields of glorious yellow, we see and feel the beauty of our world again. Even the damp fence post seem to reflect the yellows too, but in actual fact, on closer inspection one can see it is in fact yet more of the yellow heads dancing around in the foreground breeze. Now let our eyes and mind meander along to the gate on the right and simply Enjoy!
The yellow flowers are 'Ragwort' (senecio jacobaea), a semi- poisonous nuisance weed –that is very bad for livestock, although it tastes so bad that animals are repelled by it. It thrives with other insects though, so good for nature in general.
HFF. Let’s have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
A Winter's tale

Winter has finally arrived with some snow on my home town of Oldham's high ground. A scene towards 'Austerlands' from Waterhead, where frost snow and mist start to blend together as one. A mighty cold morning, but as always with these, rewarding if one can only pluck up the courage to go out and capture it.
Perfect on full screen.
