Lough Caragh

22 Jan 2019 14 25 340
Situated between Killarney and its South West coast sits this lake, which in blue skies and crisp air must be a real beauty. On this very wet September day though, a place for fishermen and mad photographers only. Moments after taking this, the heavens opened again and we could no longer see the lake at all. Best full screen on black.

Torc Waterfall, Killarney National Park

Just a few miles from Ladies View and the Lower Lake in the same Park is this splendid waterfall. At the base of the Torc mountain the Owengarriff River drains from the Devil's Punchbowl corrie lake on Mangerton Mountain. The highest fall, shown here, is a 20m drop, with the whole cascade being 110m. Enjoy full screen.

A glimpse of this iconic Upper Lake, as passed on the Ring of Kerry road.

Mulgrave Barracks picturesque Ruins

13 Jan 2019 20 35 384
Seen just of the N71 near 'Ladies View' on the way to Killarney, Ireland. After not finding any reference to this on my research one of our fellow Ipernity viewers came up with the answer. With prominent towers, the Mulgrave Barracks appear to be an ancient castle, but it is really the remains of a nineteenth century Royal Irish Constabulary station from the nineteenth century. Makes for a very interesting subject though. See the comment by Keith, below. Looks good full size on black.
