A colourful expedition into the old walled town demonstrates a place of colour and peace. I imagine though that this street can get pretty busy and noisy at times. A child’s scooter and today’s drying garments shows that this is not a ghost town. I am amazed just how clean these streets are compared with many town street scenes that I see on my travels. A drawbridge and stout wooden doors guard the entrance through these arches to the Ibiza Town inner walled sanctuary. Beyond here lie the narrow shadowed streets and dwellings of this area which climbs up eventually to the cathedral. On the way there we pass many more narrow lanes and alleys which leads us onto the town walls and to the castle and large bastion. See PiP for proximity Enjoy full screen

Seen in Ibiza old town. I am not sure if this gentleman is making a delivery or involved in a service but I am happy that I waited for him to be in the right position. Enjoy full screen.

Sailing into Ibiza town is a great experience and as we come to the harbour walls, both on the ship and on foot, we are attracted by this lighthouse. Have a great weekend.

A walk around Ibiza Town is not complete without a stroll along the harbour wall to the harbour lighthouse. One that we unfortunately could not get any nearer than this but it offered good views all around. I tried to find out more about this but that seemed almost impossible. The main PiP (adjacent photo) shows a more distant view from the start of the jetty and the other PiP shows the view from the lighthouse to the old town itself. Enjoy the weekend.

Ibiza has a lot of history. The port was settled in 654 BC by the Phoenicians and after that it saw many invaders and new occupants through the ages. It is no surprise then that such walls as we see here were soon erected and as per usual in such places the churches built on the highest point. The archway leads us right into the inner walled town up to the military sections and cathedral. The PiP shows one of the many small historic remains along the walls themselves. As the next set of tourist comes into land, this is a scene that may await the ones that care. Ibiza tends to be known for its wonderful beaches, bustling bays and nightlife but here in old Ibiza town gems like this exist. We are looking up to the Catedra se Santa Maria. Enjoy full screen.

Seen in old Ibiza Town – Maybe the people who owned this house were artist? Whatever the case it makes a good tourist attraction and photo for me. Nice large. Enjoy the weekend.
