Ahoy there.

07 Mar 2015 6 3 475
Just at the side of the Göta Kanal in Gothenburg, Sweden lies this memorial to the age of sail, albeit on land. In an case, making for an attractive photo in this contre-jour misty setting. Enjoy

Storm at Rossbeigh

21 Jan 2019 26 29 382
After a night of torrential rain, the day starts wet and very windy with gust up to 70mph. Anyway, not deterred, we took to the beach that we could see clearly form our lounge window. As you can see, with the wind blowing spume and sand everywhere - this was not for the feint hearted with an expensive camera kit in hand. Forgive the slight softness of the picture here, I had to wipe my lens a few times to rid salt water and sand :) About a mile of this walk before we gave up and retreated for coffee back in the warmth.

Evening falls at Rossbeigh

20 Jan 2019 32 35 533
At the end of a marvelous day doing the Ring-of-Kerry tour, we are greeted by scenes like this near our cottage at Rossbeigh. The left side demonstrates the contrast levels between the bright sunset reflections and the en-shadowed hills and foreshore.

Memories of Tuscany: Marina di Cecina

22 Jun 2020 20 19 286
Our first full chance to relax before seeing our accommodation. Here we are at our local beach of Cecina with a sight that we would never ever see back home in Britain. Matched sun-umbrellas and chairs all lined up in an orderly fashion. Of course, demonstrating that certain Italian flair of matching harmony with nature. Enjoy full screen

Evening calls!

A beautifully lit scene of the cliffs near Seaford showing these Kittiwakes that have been nesting here. Originally in my Panoramio gallery of 2009 Enjoy full screen on black.

Memories from Lanzarote: towards Alegranza

30 May 2020 24 16 239
As we leave the Island of Lanzarote and indeed the whole set of Canary islands, the sun starts to set over one of Lanzarote's closest neighbours, the Island of Alegranza. This is the most northerly point in the Canary Islands, and is part of the Chinijo Archipelago. The island features a volcano with a crater of about 1.1 km in diameter and an altitude of 289 m. That is the end of my memories from Lanzarote series, I hope you have enjoyed it. As usual, best viewed full screen on black.

You just can’t beat a good sunset!

21 May 2020 41 43 369
Our home lock-down does not enable me to get many good sunsets at the moment. So here is a splendid evenings shooting at Balnakeil Bay in the very North of Scotland from 2014. This was taken around 22:00 but I stood snapping for another hour getting the glorious after-effect lighting. As I took this, I was accompanied by about another dozen photographers all shooting the same scene, some doing long time exposures. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this. Enjoy full screen

A vision of St Brides

A very enjoyable moment here at St Brides in Wales. A rare moment of sun and blue skies in this mid-summer trip.

Greek Island sunset

19 Oct 2019 21 20 332
As we sail from Mykonos to the Island of Crete we are treated to a wonderful sunset. Just as I was wishing for a boat to appear to add further interest, as if by magic this comes along. It's actually a Blue-Star ferry which plies these Islands with more local traffic and freight. Enjoy full size. Note the high 6400 ISO, hence a wee bit of noise.

Long exposure sea at Cap Negret

Sea waves lulled into mist on a holiday beach.

Harlech Castle from Shell Island

A very long view of this famous castle with its hinterland of Snowdonia mountains.

Parga and its environs

30 May 2015 1 2 327
The beautiful coastal town of Parga is the setting of this scene. A rather dull day for me but I have kept this picture natural as it portrays a special feeling.
