The Trossachs: The old row boat on Loch Ard.

26 May 2021 38 37 319
A sister view to yesterdays posting, which is interesting to compare. A scene here worthy of a painting, for sure. This boat must have some history and later, pulled to this spot by a local photographer maybe :) For me – this photo alone was worth the whole trip. After this day, we would see Ben Lomond capped in white after night snowfalls. Ben Lomond at 974 metres (3195ft) is one of the most familiar of the Munros (mountains over 3000 ft high) in Scotland. It is the most southerly and is also one of the most popular hill-walks in Scotland. The mountain is a central, prominent feature of the landscape of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Enjoy full size.

Skinningrove

Another village on our North Yorkshire coast with a lot of history. Here we see the coastal edge of the village with reminders of its fishing heritage. Skinningrove was once just an agricultural and fishing economy and then in 1848 it experienced an industrial boom with local ironstone working. A railway was built in 1865 and iron smelting stated in 1874. A jetty was built in 1880 to allow ships to take away the cargoes. Mining continued until 1958 and the iron production finally finished in the 1970’s. The Pip shows the beach from both sides of the jetty onto Cattersty Sands (with the red lifebelt) , known as a hidden gem. Enjoy full screen.

HFF - Anybody for a boat ride?

Another Loweswater fence shot for you here. In fact this is the same fence as in my last HFF offering (see Pip). This view west, towards our west coast beyond the hills has none of the exciting high vistas as can be seen to the other end behind me but I think you will agree that it is quite agreeable all the same. HFF and I wish you all, a safe weekend, Herb

Ahoy there.

Just at the side of the Göta Kanal in Gothenburg, Sweden lies this memorial to the age of sail, albeit on land. In an case, making for an attractive photo in this contre-jour misty setting. Enjoy

Lough Caragh

Situated between Killarney and its South West coast sits this lake, which in blue skies and crisp air must be a real beauty. On this very wet September day though, a place for fishermen and mad photographers only. Moments after taking this, the heavens opened again and we could no longer see the lake at all. Best full screen on black.

A vision of St Brides

A very enjoyable moment here at St Brides in Wales. A rare moment of sun and blue skies in this mid-summer trip.
