Happy New Ipernity!

Piethorn Reservoir: A first look at this reservoir for us on this new walk only a few miles from home. This is one of six reservoirs all near to each other above the village of Newhey, Rochdale. This 180° view is made from a stitch of 4x 6000x4000 landscape photos before reduction for Ipernity upload. I was just about to upload this before Ipernity collapsed last year. **A Big thank you to all involved in fixing the technical problems here. - What would we do without you!** Wishing you all a very happy photographic future back here in Ipernity. Keep safe.

The Wonders of Mallorca: The Blue Gorge

Another view of this artificial lake high in the Mallorcan mountains. As can be seen here the water level is quite low after another very hot Summer.

Over here we can get some snow with blue skies now and again. Here is such a scene taken on one of my higher reservoir walks a year or so back, called Chew Reservoir near my favourite Dovestones reservoir in Greenfield. 2018 was a bleak time for this high area –it being devastated by moorland fires in the drought. That will take many years to recover but snow like this hides most things. Enjoy As usual, best viewed full screen on black. I wish you all, A Wonderful New Year and HFF, Herb

Pennine view near Carbrook

Our second big outing on the ease of our lock-down. At the foot of the Pennines here, not far from my home, a view of nature and mans work combined. You don't see too many walkers up here at all. Beneath us are two of the four reservoirs comprising what are commonly known as the Brushes Reservoir group. The nearest one here is 'Higher Swineshaw' with' Lower Swineshaw ' just in the far distance. To get here we have walked about 2.5 miles up past the reservoirs and over the dam wall of the higher reservoir. We are actually on a rather nice narrow path that still has the old iron railways lines just about showing under the grass, that once transported stone from the quarry's behind us to help in the building of theses reservoirs. Listen with me here and hear the sound of Meadow Pipits in the rustling grasses. Nice full screen.

Ramped fence

A view of the Digley Reservoir overflow. This reservoir is the bigger of two in a series near the Pennine village of Holmfirth. We visited this area last December, well before lock-down and have not had the chance to go back yet. A rather ornate fence and gate to this and guessing how deep that hole is, a good precaution. The gate, another HFF shot in PiP. HFF, enjoy the weekend.

In the Northern mountains of Mallorca lies this stretch of water. Very low now after a particularly hot and dry Summer. Not only a delight to photograph but also to stroll around.
