A small target in a huge area the vela super nova I have approached this as If I have never done it before and went with the data I had as this part of the sky has very little Oiii I shot Ha and Sii and combined HaSS. This new camera has once again brought this target to life. As HaSS at 160 shots per filter combined is some 40 hours of data. Once again at the end of the night I went to next target to get rotation right, 76 degrees clock wise cause of my marking I got it in one rotation. This is my target for Astro fest but I had to take it well before hand so that the target shows up on screen as a quality image from the build up of shots. This is a very large part of the Large Magellanic Cloud. You are looking at two night worth of images at 200 Sec while I was after a third night clouds well and truly got in the way. This is two nights or 170 images worth of shots or 16 hours worth of data. I have pulled all my gear ready to put in my car ready to set up on the site and run contactless from outside the tent on the field a Curtin University. I have always know there was a Christmas tree in space but it never seemed to come up in time to post for Christmas. You cant mistake the White/ Greenish Christmas tree with the big bright star at it top in the image. It is surrounder in a lot of red but I have tried not to over do the red. Along with the Christmas tree there is the Cone nebula and the Fox Fur nebula in this shot. my aim was to get in a photo the whole of this large nebula. this was taken with the Nikon 300mm F4 D lens. this is the largest nebula in the milky way if you are out in the real dark you can see this with your eyes. middle of the bow you can see the red of Carina. the first was ED80 and Full frame next was ED80 zwoasi071mc. this is the only photo to include the whole nebula in detail. colour is all about learning how to get the colours right from what you have in front of you on your computer screen.. This is a look at the same data from the first shot but using PixInsight processing first up. All the dust clouds show up that is around the two nebula's not see in the Ps edit. this was only ever a look see and trial only 28 shots. Even the very faint Nebula NGC 1999 shows up. One for the end of the year and out on the farm with horizon to horizon views all night long. This was shot with Nikon D300mm F4 lens and 1.4 converter on the D810 all Nikon. I will retry with the 600mm Skywatcher ED80 and D810 latter months of the year.

This was made out of the same shot as the first one all this detail is behind the stars when you remove them. The trick is adding back some stars took me all afternoon ( Well Its Bucketing down with rain why not). Enjoy a real part of hidden space. PIP the original photo with all the stars.

I got a little down hearted with the results from the Tamron 150-600. So I went old school so I purchased a 300mm F4 AF-S D lens and added my 1.4 converter on the back. this lens has no VR so not very good for day use but perfect for my manual use at night. you are looking at first set of photos In DX mode 630mm from my back yard (Yes my back yard) in the city in city lights. cant wait for Wednesday night to go bush. 19 shots stacked ISO640 30sec. Enjoy the Southern skies.
