    Forget the three R’s of reading, writing, and arithmetic – whoever came up with that one needs their head looking at - I prefer the ‘new’ three r’s of: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Let me just say; I’ve been recycling for many years courtesy of education from my Grandfather. He was a big believer in reduce. If he could, he would reuse something.     After an overcast day yesterday the sun returned at full throttle today. With the wheelie bins now empty I started clearing rubbish again. I got the rest of the brambles into the garden wheelie bin, I also knocked some planks off a piece of decking that was laying on the mound round the side of the house,that went in the wheelie bin for rubbish.     Okay, that’s not as bad as it sounds despite some people thinking I’m a tad weird. As previously mentioned, the Deckhand had bought me a nice steel so I could sharpen my cutlass I mean kitchen knives. I spent a happy hour, approximately, on Christmas Day taking it for a test drive lol. The knife block was emptied, and the 5 knives therein given a good sharpening.     This week has been another busy one. I had my remainder of the eye test that was curtailed due to being sent to the emergency eye clinic. Sad to say, I need new lenses. Whilst the infection has gone, I’ve been left with some corneal scaring that will take time to heal and must use the lubricant more often. Both eyes look healthy, though my vision has deteriorated in both eyes. Bummer!     Kann keinen Schlaf finden. Mein Wombele ( Xander, 4 ) liegt oben auf der Uni in der Kinderklinik. Wegen starker Verstopfung... Ausser kurz als Baby damals, als wir von Pre auf 1er Nahrung umstellten, hat er noch nie Verstopfung gehabt und erst einmal Durchfall. ( Die Zwillies hatten auch noch nix dergleichen ).     I was emptying and wiping down my carpet sweeper earlier when I realised how much cleaning the things that do our cleaning need. Vacuum cleaners seem to get as much dust on the outside as on the in and the filters clog up,dusters get dusty,washing up bowls need a regular wash.If you have hard water kettles,washing machines and dishwashers need descaling,tumble driers need de-fluffing,pedal bins need disinfecting,shower heads need the holes de-gunked, the list is endless.     Yesterday I took the day off to help my sister with some housework. Now, let me get this straight; I offered, and I was happy to help her out, however when I got there I found her daughter, who is 20, was also home that day. She still lives at home. Why she couldn’t have helped her Mother with the housework is quite beyond me!     Since my last blog, I have been mostly biting my tongue. For those in foreign parts, in the UK it is now illegal to smoke inside a public building. In Wales (no idea about England) it is illegal to smoke in doorways or within a certain distance. In work we have signs that state this, we have set smoking areas complete with special bins and a rain shelter, yet people still smoke under the no smoking signs and block the entrance.     Today should be a quieter day on the work front.I have the old silver Christmas tree to bring down and put with the freezer ready to be hauled away,then I will eye the spare bedroom up for space.I am putting the tumble dryer up there because it makes the little work room very warm and the sudden temp change is not good for freezers.
