I am not leaving until I know whether we have a home here with the IMA or not. We the members are hoping that all will go well and stay here. Best of luck with the Negotiations Regards Tess.
StoneRoad2013 club"Please wait, patiently, and do not leave ! ".
When there is news, we will say so.
William Sutherland clubMuch thanks goes to everyone who has stayed and is keeping this a vibrant, interactive community. :)
Pam J clubSilence is not helpful... but also understanding that all cannot be discussed. Its a fine line.
As I have said on that other site many times..... even if you just say on a REGULAR (once a week is regular) basis.... something like....
"We are still negotiating... can't really discuss it.. but please know we are here and working at a solution"
Believe me.. THAT helps !
Meantime... I am here.. on a daily basis.. I encourage others to stay... I try to pass on info such as we have. I will not leave till that is the only alternative .
And then, there is the issue that even if the site is saved, MANY people will be priced out. So, knowing that, what reason do they have to stay? In hopes of being someone's charity case?
I still have content here, but, come March 30th, I will more than likely be removing 99% of it because I'm tired of waiting -- besides canceling accts. by request & on behalf of family members who have no interest whatsoever in paying 50€ just to share photos with a handful of contacts. Besides that, I don't agree one bit with the proposed fee for staying on this site. It'll be turned into photo sharing for the elite.... I live in NYC.... I don't need more elitist, non-inclusive attitudes in life ;) Much less so in a virtual world... I think if people had any reason whatsoever to believe that the 50€ fee is just a number for paperwork, more would stay. But, between that and all the other issues and uncertainties one really shouldn't blame folks for throwing in the proverbial towel.
"When there is news, we will say so...." I got news for y'all.... All this hush-hush negotiation stuff is getting tiresome. And people are getting the sense that they could well lose their content at any moment. So, yeah, keep all the details and progress hush-hush and watch activity dwindle and accts. being canceled. But, at least no one knew what was going on behind the scenes.... no big secrets to divulge....
Furthermore, the ipernity staff was supposed to provide a means for folks to download their content or transfer it to another site.... That, along with other promises and assurances, didn't come to fruition. So, yeah, people feel like they need to take care of that stuff on their own and that is time consuming for the most prolific users of this site. They don't have time to be active in groups, etc., and deal with backing up and/or moving their content to a site with a brighter, more certain future. And, really, given the state of the site, expirations on club accts. should've been halted so that people had ample opportunity to deal with their content.
It's very clear that even if the platform is saved, the future of the site is no less in doubt. No business plan, no way of generating income aside from high membership fees, no tech. staff, no real fee structure (seems to be all or nothing).... Long list of issues.... And for that, a small minority of members will be required to pay a premium fee.... A fee that, you'll soon find, the majority will not be able to afford --- and among that majority will also be the people to don't think it's fair to have the fee set so high, for one, and to price diversity out, for another. Salvation of the platform has a glimmer of hope, I agree.... Long-term survival of the site is doubtful, unfortunately.
Efforts are commendable, to be sure, but, unfortunately, the current ownership of the site has made such a mess of it that it's not likely to be pulled out of the red in the long-term. No in this economic climate.... Unless you have someone with real experience running a site like this in that hidden bag of goodies the rest of us don't get to see... It's not easy.... Even Flickr's future is in doubt now that Yahoo's been sold and is losing staff all over the place.
It's nice that some are able to look at this through rose colored glasses..... The eternal optimists =) The rest will continue to leave..... Or, at the very least, cease activity while doing exactly what the IMA folks say they should, "wait and hope".
LutzP club has replied to FizgigJohn Sheldon club has replied to FizgigFizgig has replied to LutzP clubSure..... The light at the end of this tunnel is most likely a speeding train.... Howzat for a summary?
"It's a pity you feel so strongly that Ipernity is a hopeless case."
I'm certainly not alone, though, am I? Activity has come to a virtual standstill. I don't think it's completely hopeless, that's not what I was saying really.... I'm a realist. I don't do rose-colored glasses and all that. But, I'm still here until the site either goes under or the 50€ fee is imposed, but I will not be uploading new content as I don't feel I'd have the time to update my backups in time. Besides that, my club membership will expire at which point I won't even be able to photo share based on older content through no fault of my own. With that expiration I will be removing all invisible content. If I can't see it, managed it, work with it, the site can't have it either.... Don't blame me or those leaving {or have already left} for lack of confidence in the site.... The owners knew for more than a year that it was circling the drain and didn't bother to tell anyone The current state of affairs and lack of confidence is all on them =\ So, please, excuse those of us who just don't feel any confidence in their participation in saving a site they clearly don't care about anymore. Believe me, it would be nice if that weren't the case!
Jaap van 't Veen club has replied to FizgigLutz vraagt in deze discussie alleen maar om te blijven en nog steeds geduld te hebben. Is het teveel gevraagd om het daar wel of niet mee eens te zijn ??
HappySnapper has replied to FizgigJohn Sheldon club has replied to FizgigWhat comes to the feeling of not willing to upload anything as long as the situation is uncertain, I say I felt the same way at first. But now that we at least have some hope, I say please keep on sharing! IN general it much more important to share and in that way communicate with others on social media, than to be worried whether something does not last. What I have learned during all so many years online, is that present is more important than past. Social media is about communication, not to about putting up archives. Personal computers, CDs DVDs and hard drives are much more reliable for that.
So, share now, worry later! ;-)
And great thanks for the IMA team and Ipernity team for all the hard work. No matter if you succeed or not, you have at least tried! =)

This is expected to take some time. I an sure that Advice will need to be taken, and other consultations need to happen, these are discussions and negotiations. They take time.
.
For example, I am involved with some charities in England and Wales. Registration can take MONTHS of to and froing between trustees and the Charity Commission. And that is so even when everybody involved has the same first language.
.
I prefer to keep positive about this complex situation. To be honest, I find the constant negativity of some members very annoying and disheartening, especially when those members are unwilling to offer any help, only posting destructive criticism.
Please be patient, whilst we wait.
Please keep adding content and interacting with others
.
When we have news to share, we will do so.
.
It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time, and some are impossible to please any of the time. Thank you for your efforts

04/03/2017 news: Ipernity SA said to get in touch with us this weekend (4-5/03/2017) to give their point of view regarding our offer.
At this hour we are still waiting for their communication. As soon as it is known, we will consult each other then indicate you the terms and implications.
Ipernity SA has always been positive regarding our project and always wished to make our points of view coincide. That's all we can say right now.
You have to be patient & wait & stop whinging & being negative all the time. it's tiresome . There are good people that are working hard behind the scenes to keep us running & IT ALL TAKES TIME !!!!

My Question
Hi Team
May I ask
1
Is there evidence of members deleting their membership in the last few month. ( Excluding Dormant Accounts you have Deleted.)
2
Is there evidence of recent lack of activity by members within Ipernity
I would be grateful if you could answer these questions.
IP Reply
Yes, we have means to measure movement(I don't have access to it); it is certain that we lost Club/non-Club members within month since the first announcement of shutdown have been made (not that much of Club members).
However, we continue to regularly gain new members including Club.
I do see a little less pictures appearing in my tool for moderation; including the What's Hot since a month. (I'd say 10% less)
Best regards,
Audrey
My opinion of the sitituation.
So with this information I think the loss of members is being balanced by increase in new members ( if IP are correct )
The decrease in activity of 10% is not as bad as some might think.
William Sutherland clubThank you Tess for your update re: memberships. Although IMA cannot see membership activity, it is my strong belief that the new Ipernity will be a vibrant and viable platform with a bright, long-term stable future with a loyal membership base ensuring a stronger and more viable platform.
Jaap van 't Veen club has replied to William Sutherland clubautofantasia club has replied to William Sutherland clubTreasa Ui Cionaodha has replied to William Sutherland clubHaving said that it is going to be so important if and when the deal is finalized how you structure the new IMA site. In particular how the IMA will put an affordable layering system too allow the possibility that all or most members can contribute financially to the site.
Just my opinion and I know I am not on my one with this outlook.
06/03/2017: this weekend Ipernity SA announced a short delay in their communication to us, for internal logistics reasons. We're expecting it soon.
Latest Update
07/03/2017: IMA received its receipt for filing. This allows IMA to begin business -- open a bank account for CrowdFunding and ultimately running the Ipernity platform. It also means the official certificate will be issued in about 2-3 weeks.

Latest Update
William Sutherland
09/03/2017: IMA and Ipernity S.A. are close to an agreement. I'm hopeful it will be attained sometime tomorrow. If so, the terms will be published here. Please know that the agreement if finalized is aimed at meeting the best interests of the Ipernity platform, IMA and the platform's members' interests.
In anticipation, IMA will be establishing a bank account in France and opening a Paypal account to facilitate revenue receipts and payment of operating expenses. IMA also anticipates the start of a CrowdFunding campaign early next week and once it is underway, daily updates will be given. Please know, it is critical people contribute as soon as possible without delay when CrowdFunding is underway since a decision will have to be made within about 2 weeks whether to continue to the platform into April. The combined March and April costs are approximately 10,000 € (Amazon in agreement with Ipernity S.A. allowed the platform to operate this month with expectation that the payments will be made in April).
In addition, please be aware that annual operating expenses for the Ipernity platform are approximately 66,000 €. This does not provide any funds for contingency reserves, future obligations, platform upgrades (for example, future conversion to https protocol as some have suggested), rate increases or other unanticipated expenses or shortfalls. Nevertheless, a stable club membership base near the reported membership figure is more than sufficient to maintain viability and offer a bright long-term future.
IMA thanks everyone for their patience, input, ideas and efforts to keep this site running and for your assistance to ensure a successful CrowdFunding campaign.
William Sutherland
11/03/2017: Ipernity Members Association is now official. The official declaration of IMA was published this morning in Journal Officiel!
3 hours ago. Edited 3 hours ago.
Having said that the next step in my opinion is for the IMA to set out their proposals as to how they intend to maintain this site financially. We the members need a proper program of how the IMA will proceed before members commit to crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is essential to maintain the site financially for the next few month. But it is the IMA's long term plan as they present it that will be vital for members to commit financially to both crowdfunding and membership fees. ( Here I stress regarding membership fees should be tired to all members to contribute based on the personal financial circumstances.) Failure to do so will reduce membership numbers to be so low that the site would fail financially and also reduce the activity within the site would to be so low that it would not be attractive to continue as a member. Just my opinion.
Personally I am Wishing the IMA every success and hoping they will save this fantastic photosharing site.
William Sutherland club has replied to Treasa Ui CionaodhaIMA does not have control of the Ipernity platform. We are in negotiations. Transfer of ownership will likely occur in April contingent upon favorable crowdfunding results. IMA is an official organization recognized by the French authorities and thus a global legal entity.

Bergfex club has replied to Leo W club1) Für einen Startbutton of der IP-Site müsste jemand bei IP S.A. tätig werden. Dort ist aber niemand. (Christophe tut nix mehr. Er wartet nur noch darauf, ob das Crowfunding erfolgreich wird, oder ob er abschalten soll. IMA hat noch keinen Zugriff auf die Software.)
2) Leider bietet Indiegogo keine andere Zahlmöglichkeit an.
raingirl club has replied to Leo W clubI hope we can all try to find solutions!!

Leo W club has replied to Bergfex clubFür diejenigen ohne Kreditkarte sei angemerkt:
Es gibt auch kostenlose virtuelle Online-Prepaid-Kreditkarten unterschiedlicher Anbieter, die können für jegliche Online-Zahlungen genutzt werden. Das ist auch für Google play usw nützlich. Die kann bei Mißbrauch im Web nur bis zum vorhandenen Ladebetrag abgeräumt werden, wenn die Daten einmal in falsche Hände kommen sollten.
z.B.: secure.wirecard.com/mywirecard/#/meta/fees
Ich wusste nicht, dass der Notbetrieb nun so reduziert läuft.
Wird die IMA denn auch die Software, technischen Betrieb und die Server komplett übernehmen?

Fees
Indiegogo charges two kinds of fees in addition to a credit card or PayPal processing fee.
If you go with Flexible or Fixed Funding, Indiegogo charges 5% of your total sum raised along with payment processing in the 3-5% range depending no location. If you fail to reach the goal, you get charged nothing because you don’t receive anything at all.
So why have they not given the option to use PayPal for IMA. ( Have I misunderstood their payment options ?????????)

Sami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to Treasa Ui CionaodhaI have already replied to you on Ipernity Team blog, and here's my reply again:
Indiegogo (company) actually offers two options. I suppose 'Generosity' was chosen because it is more suitable for this cause than 'Indiegogo':
support.generosity.com/hc/en-us/articles/212016158-FAQs-for-Organizers
"Should my campaign live on Indiegogo or Generosity?
Generosity is a place for people to raise funds for themselves, a loved one or a nonprofit. Indiegogo is a place to raise funds for a creative or entrepreneurial pursuit."
"How do donors give to my fundraiser?
Anyone with a credit card can donate to your fundraiser. Generosity accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. At this time, we do not accept prepaid cards. Other third party payment processors, such as PayPal, are not available on Generosity."
In other words William (on behalf of IMA) chose generosity.com because by indiegogo it is the recommended option for nonprofit campaigns. And then that option does not offer any other options than credit card payments.
There are also other comments posted today, stating that PayPal as company actually no longer support any crowdfundings: techcrunch.com/2016/05/09/paypal-will-no-longer-protect-your-crowdfunding-cash
Over 200 people took part in that and I have now revisited the responses and contacted them all individually (via email or by posting in their guestbook) to make them aware of the fact that a crowdfunding campaign has now begun.
Where their settings allow I have also posted the above image again to help raise awareness amongst the community as much as possible.
Please can the IMA confirm if they will similarly be contacting all of the people that completed their survey?
I seem to remember that to complete it you had to supply both your real world email address and provide your ipernity username so this should be possible! :)

autofantasia club has replied to Treasa Ui CionaodhaI was told that they believe Ipernity are going to send an email to everyone and that "it is easy for them to email people and difficult for IMA since we have no master email list".
That to me doesn't really stand up. Yes, it would be impossible for the IMA to email everyone that uses ipernity, but I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about everyone that completed their survey. They collected email addresses or at least the survey asked for them and so although no master list as such might not exist creating one isn't exactly rocket science.
Or how about even just making sure they message everyone that has joined this group ... I don't believe they will all be wading through the various threads for updates.
As I've said, I managed to contact all 200 odd of the people that completed my own user poll and it only took me a few hours so surely between us we could target 1400 or so before the crowdfunding exercise comes to an end.
Come on guys let's do this!
Here is what quite a few are saying ......I have paid up till October there is plenty of time !!!! ..... or there about .
So there will be quite a bit of short fall if this is not corrected....
I saw that the Ipernity Team posted information regarding the campaign today and they urge as many as possible Iper users to donate whatever they are able to.
...........
Thank you, autofantasia. A very good idea. Currently, I only extend my club membership for only three months. In April the next tranche would be due. If nothing concrete or reliable from Ipernity has come, I will simply add my contribution to the Crowdfunding.
autofantasia club has replied to HappySnapperWilliam Sutherland
I have been informed that some people mistakenly think there is plenty of time and ignore the real urgency of the situation. They think because their subscription runs until late 2017 or even into 2018 Ipernity will not shut down. This is not true!
The crowdfunding campaign is separate and independent of peoples' subscription payment to Ipernity S.A. and meant to erase a significant shortfall and buy time for the transfer of ownership to IMA. If the goal is not met, Ipernity WILL shutdown at the end of the month. It will be deemed financially unviable to continue. Therefore it is critical that everyone who wants Ipernity to continue participate in the crowdfunding.
Thank you to all who have already contributed and thank you in advance to those who will to save this great site.
