Fantastic! I have never seen a swallowtail in the wild...

btw- the EXIFs -if you just view the basics as shown on this page- say 300mm from which I deduct prime (otherwise it would be 70-300 or the like)

But when you open the exifs it gives a false ID for the lens...

It's irritsting, isn't it? That's why I only show the basic EXIFs and keep the rest private - and I don't want to publish the registration numbers of lenses or cameras...

This is a wonderful capture Isabel................the butterfly is gorgeous and you've captured it in fantastic colour and detail.

When I was using Nikon kit..........I had the same lens.........it was superb. I''m saving up for the Olympus 300mm f4 at the moment. I have the 100-400, but I don't like it much, so I'll be trading it in.

I am not very keen on zooms, I still have the nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 but I lent it to a friend!

A great capture of this butterfly on the bougainvillea.

The lens has a good DOF, that's for sure.

And the shot is lovely, clear enough that I can tell that the swallowtail is not like the ones I see around here. But then, I wouldn't expect it to be.

Two years I try to shoot this butterfly but usually the time I get to my camera its gone ! I was lucky this time.

We too are lucky to see such a beautiful image, Isabel. The details in the butterfly (when viewed very large) are superb. All the colors in the image are so beautiful, as are the composition and the depth of field. Superb!

This is a terrific photo. The wings of the butterfly are tack sharp and they contrast with the colour of the leaves beautifully which really sets this photo up. Really well taken, composed and captured!

I was just lucky: the butterfly was around and I had the gear close by. Just took 2 shots, the first was not so good, this one was fine. After that I just watched it till it went... obrigada Ed
