The views are just as good both sides it’s when the sun is at least lighting up some of the scene that matters to me.

This viewing position is achievable with flat walking along the road from Hayfield ( Car parking at Bowden Bridge) to the Reservoir gates just a mile. Then an admittedly very steep but short cobbled section at the start up White Brow just a quarter of a mile. To be honest if you have energy and breathing to get up it’s well worth it. You could then walk round the reservoir at low level or take on a big hike BUT on a sunny afternoon (especially) just stay a while on White Brow and turn back.
