The heather moorland beyond is a patchwork created by a gamekeeper creating habitat for Red Grouse to be raised and of course shot if someone pays enough to be allowed to do so.

With all the rain we had a few weeks ago there is a lot of gas cutting happening again, in a way someone with a lot of money shooting the grouse does help to preserve the landscape

Agreed. We do wonder what will happen to the United Utilities owned land when it is not going to renew the Shooting rights. If the moorland is unmanaged it will grow out of control and return to scrub and no one will like that. I suspect that is exactly what will happen.
