Patterdale Post Office sold

Patterdale Post Office is no more (closed a couple of years now). The Post van was still collecting and delivering but no Post Office now. It will become a private residence at best and yet another holiday rental property at second best.
We used to love going to the Post Office in the past but the hours were reduced first then the shop had to survive on mostly seasonal visitors money but the lovely owners kept going for years.
The Caramel Shortcake was superb as sampled by Julia Bradbury on her Coast to Coast walk TV programme.
The Shop was the first place the famous Alfred Wainwright Pictorial Guides to the Lake District were sold.
Nothing lasts for ever!
