Purple Heather patchwork

Purple Heather patchwork
Kinder Scout is hidden by dark rain clouds. The foreground hill ( The Knott) has the bright sunlight highlighting the patchwork of heather.

The patchwork is created by deliberate burning by gamekeepers to force new heather growth for the Red Grouse to eat the green shoots before being shot at.

I'm not keen on the reason for the heather patchwork being there, but it's undeniably beautiful..!!

That threatening sky really looks lovely above the heather...........the light and colours are wonderful. A cracking shot Colin.
