How odd! The details in your note are blocked, so I don't know the story behind this, but I'm guessing someone has blocked up a public right-of-way?

I have tried this again but have given up. I have made the next Photo visible and added a description
Basically it's an area around the Reservoir that has no right of way but the locals have always just ignored it, climbed over walls, broken locks off gates etc. Not just a few people but hundreds do this. Locals give me a look like I am stupid when I question it and say things like "My Grandfather said it was OK" and so it goes on. We have lived here since 1965 (but are not a Local!) so if I see a no access sign I respect it

I see...........thanks for the explanation. It's a difficult one.............there may be a right of way there if the land was used as a public right of way in the past or the
land has been accessed by the public for at least 20 years and nobody has asked them to stop.

See link: www.gov.uk/right-of-way-open-access-land

It sound to me like all parties need to sit down and be sensible about it! Vandalism is not the answer.

There have always been locked gates and No Access signs since we moved here in 1960s.
Just not accepted by the locals who walk the dogs, jog and even swim in the reservoir!
