I've ascended Kinder Scout from various directions but so long ago I can't remembeer if I ever went up here!

I agree most people ascending from Hayfield go via William Clough to Ashop Head to the North or Tunstead Farm to Kinder Low . Coldwell Clough is little further South and you reach a footpath junction which goes left to Kinder Low or right over to the Hope Valley.
