Großes Torfmoor
Das Naturschutzgebiet Großes Torfmoor im Kreis Minden-Lübbecke ist mit 467 ha das bedeutendste Hochmoor in Westfalen. Vor 11.000 Jahren wurde die Weser durch Eiszeitgletscher in diese Gegend umgeleitet. Dadurch entstand ein Rinnensee, der nach dem Abschmelzen der Gletscher verlandete. So entstand schließlich dieses Hochmoor.
