HFF vom Pico de la Nieve

Wanderung zum Pico de la Nieve (Schneegipfel) auf La Palma. Wir befinden uns am Kraterrand der Caldera de Taburiente in ca. 2200 m Höhe. Die Wolkendecke unter uns füllt den Krater vollständig aus. An dieser Stelle ist der Kratergrund ca. 1500 m tiefer. Da die Felswände hier steil abfallen, hat man zum Schutz der Wanderer einen Zaun angebracht. Der gegenüber liegende Kraterrand ist etwa 6,5 km entfernt.

WoW! That's an impressive cloud inversion - it looks like foaming water. The rim of the crater looks fantastic and the sign and rocks make super foreground interest. I'm surprised the fence is not a bit more substantial though!

Danke, dass es dir gefällt, Keith! Der Zaun ist nur ein Schutz für leichte Wanderer ;-) Nein, der Zaun soll Waghalsige davon abhalten zu nah an die Kante zu treten. Das Lava-Gestein ist oft lose, und man kann schnell abstürzen. In den zwei Wochen meines Urlaubs sind zwei Touristen tödlich verunglückt!

Und wie! Als wir morgens von der Küste losfuhren, sahen wir keine Berggipfel. Die Wolkendecke war total dicht und ich war mir nicht sicher, ob wir oben überhaupt freie Sicht haben würden. Nach einigen hundert Höhenmetern durch die Wolken erstrahlte ab 1800 m endlich die Sonne. Auch wenn wir nicht tief in die Caldera schauen konnten, war die Wolkendecke, die sich ständig bewegt und verändert, ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis.
