North by Northwest

Leaving our vacation rental in Holetown, we drove by car north, up the narrow road toward Speightstown - Barbados's second largest town. As we continued, the roadways grew far less traveled and the sights more rare and wonderful.

Though sugar was no longer the thriving industry it once was and its many large plantations gone, smaller cane fields were visible throughout the interior - one such field is shown in this shot on the left side of the road.
