Energiewende
Heute vor 10 Jahren kollabierte das Atomkraftwerk in Fukoshima. Damit wurde auch das endgültige Aus des deutschen Atomprogramms besiegelt. Wenn heute Politiker wie der sächsische Ministerpräsident Kretschmer laut über einen teilweisen Wiedereinstieg in die Atomtechnologie nachdenken, macht mich das nachdenklich. Vergessen scheinen Tschernobyl, Three Mile Island und Fukoshima; vergessen scheint auch, dass es bisher keine Möglichkeit gibt, den Arommüll zu entsorgen bzw. zu lagern. Eine Jahrhundertaufgabe ! Unterschätzt wird auch die Möglichkeit -sozusagen durch die Hintertür - waffenfähiges spaltbares Material herzustellen. Die Zukunft liegt in den erneuerbaren Energien; die gilt es weiterzuentwickeln, damit die, die nach uns kommen, unseren Planeten noch erleben dürfen.

To renew our well-being on Earth as well as our modes of energy production - and why not restrain them in a rational way (those energy savings you so rightly invoke) -, this does not seem to be the program of those who run the economy and our 'advanced' countries.
I agree with your observation, Ulrich. And I thank you for initiating this crucial debate on our pages.
The energy issue is just the tip of the devastating iceberg of growth at all costs. Like the Titanic, confident of our invulnerability, we are rushing headlong into it with eyes closed.
Fortunately, the human conscience is not dead: serious upheavals are on the horizon, I believe.
