Did you know that this "mosquito hawk" does not actually eat or even bother mosquitoes? In fact, this insect does not eat at all in this phase of its life and is only interested in breeding, its final act before dying. This insect spends most of its life in the water as a nymph, where it feeds on algae and plankton...other species live on land and eat plants...some are predatory! :) LOL I learned most of this after I became curious...why is it called a mosquito hawk?! Now you are all caught up in case you weren't already, heh... :D
Aber so schön habe ich ihn nicht erwischt
Wunderbar aufgenommen für unser Thema, Ulrich
Dass man auf so dünnen Beinen gehen kann!
