Baobabs

Baobabs
Morondava, Madagascar. These are ancient trees, slow growing and evocative. Sadly many are beginning to be affected by climate change. Madagascar has numerous endemic species of Baobabs. They evolved here.
One species has made its way to Africa, and one to north Western Australia, probably through seed pods floating on prevailing currents

Günter Klaus, Frans Schols, Ernest CH, Typo93 and 46 other people have particularly liked this photo

This must be one of the most iconic trees in the world. Ii is so instantly recognizable. Hopefully they stand more chance of survival now that they are colonizing different areas.

How they dominate in their native landscape, Diana, with their unusual shapes that almost look like the branches are roots! Including the delicate streak of clouds was just perfect for this shot and to give us a sense of the terrain.

An iconic tree...............I always think they look as if someone has planted them upside-down.

Beautifully composed Diana............and sharp throughout. I especially like the colour of the grasses in the foreground.

I hope you're enjoying the weekend.

What unusual trees Diana. Looking almost like feet and toes at the end of a bare leg. Well captured here. Thanks for sharing.

Keep safe and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Herb
