Handsome Flat-pea

Yes, that really is its name! Well, more properly it is Platylobium formosum, and my book assures me that it is found along the coastal area of south-eastern Australia. These were alongside the road.

Evening at Lakes Entrance

Wandering around the yachts and other craft berthed at Lakes Entrance, in the Gippsland Lakes. Unfortunately I was just a little too late for a sunset, but the first lights were coming out. This works well on black (press 'Z').

On a back road through the tall forests of East Gippsland in Victoria. Tree ferns at lower right. NB: now re-edited on my return home, more options than on the laptop. :)

Big sky, small fence

Taken while heading into Victoria, looking at a departing line of heavy rain showers. Alongside the road, a fairly typical rural fence. HFF!

The visiting Blue-tongue

Our first Eastern Blue-tongue Lizard of the season appeared in the yard yesterday. These are the largest member of the skink family. They are good to have around as they eat snails and such. Sadly, I wasn't able to get a shot with its tongue showing: maybe next time. :) I shall be away for about a week. It's likely that I will have little internet access, so please don't be surprised if you don't hear from me for a bit.

The bug on the wonga pod

The wonga wonga vine has finished flowering and now has set seed pods. I found this bug (since identified as a Green Vegetable Bug - see thread) sitting on one. SMC Pentax M Macro 100/4.0 plus X1.4 Kenko T.C.
