hickling church, norfolk

hickling church, norfolk
all manner of graffiti covers the lid of this c16 wodehouse chest tomb, made from an altar slab and bearing its crosses. the earliest dated graffiti is 1627. the hands and feet drawn around may have belonged to children from their size, so perhaps a school was held in this corner of the church, though the dates during the civil war could indicate a more serious purpose
