n.w. corner of the nave, with the c11 west wall. it is believed that the entire north wall was rebuilt for the aisle in around 1180, and that the round windows are not saxon, but if this is the case, why aren't they lined up with the arcade? they're not being double splayed means little here, as the post conquest builder was saxon, but used some norman techniques. without a closer look they are difficult to date; they could even be bodged dec. quatrefoils that got tidied up by georgians, they may be too restored to ever know. the crease on the western wall at eaves level seems to continue onto the north wall; this is probably the ghost of an earlier perp. roof as the walls were re-heightened in the 1863 restoration
