this equestrian bronze dating from c.1918 stands opposite chatham parish church at the entrance to the eponymous royal engineers barracks, but was only moved here in 1960, having originally been erected in khartoum. rather suprising that the sudanese hadn't melted it down, considering how many of them the field marshal killed.
