synagogue and jewish graveyard rochester, kent

facade of the lovely little synagogue designed by h.h.collins and built 1865-9, only spoiled by the modern glass porch. built upon land purchased from the hospital of st.bartholomew, at the time this was a no-man's-land between rochester and chatham, and the path to the right still belongs legally to the hospital as a right of way to the river, though no longer used.
