brass eagle lectern of the late c15, similar to those in isleham, venice, peterborough and thorverton apart from the addition of greyhounds un der the base. incidentally, there is a slot in the tail, but I am coming to believe that this is to take the bottom rail of a book rest, rather than being anything to do with either manufacture or alms.
