across the cloister to the s.e. stands the church of the benedictine nunnery . the cloister arcadse are as rebuilt by essex 1763, on the left can be seen the original blocked windows of the north transept of c.1170, new ones added c.1500 to it and the truncated nave when the upper tower was also rebuilt .
