st.mary's church , slaugham

ornate c17 pulpit, from northern europe and given to the church in 1890. now against the middle of the north wall and the focal point of the gaudy chairs which replaced pews in the destructive recent modernisation, which saw the patina of history scoured from the interior by a designer who should stick to dole office waiting rooms. shame on the parish council, and on the diocese that allowed this church to be so spoilt.
