norwich cathedral, st. ethelbert's gate

norwich cathedral, st. ethelbert's gate
inner face of st.ethelbert's gate , also known as the great gate, which was the main entry from the town to the monastery. built in 1316 with lots of early flushwork and precocious lierne vaults to the entry. all of the walls were far too heavily restored by william wilkins c.1806; he even altered some of the flushwork details
